About SEPAC

WHAT IS MONTCLAIR SEPAC?

The Montclair Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is a state-mandated, parent-run group working to promote a network of parents, guardians, and caregivers of children with Individual Education Plans (IEP) and 504 Plans. We collaborate with parents, teachers, related services providers, administrators and community members to encourage understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of all special education students.

JOIN MONTCLAIR SEPAC…

  • If you are parents and/or guardians of children who receive any type of special education services or accommodations in school, such as an Individualized Education Program (IEP), a 504 plan, or out-of-district placement.
  • If you think your child may have learning challenges.
  • If you would like to understand more or have an interest in the special education and related services.
  • If you are a parent, educator, or any member of the community who wants to support and continually improve special education services!
No membership is required to join Montclair SEPAC – everyone is welcome!

WHY GET INVOLVED?

  • To network with parents, guardians, caregivers, teachers, staff, and community organizations.
  • To support the improvement and enhancement of special education instruction and services in Montclair Public School District.
  • To share your own special education expertise and experiences.
  • To learn more about Montclair special education and services.
  • To learn to advocate for your child and their educational needs.
  • To volunteer and bring excellence to the educational experience of all students in the Montclair schools.

WHEN DOES MONTCLAIR SEPAC MEET?

  • Parent & Caregiver meetings are monthly, usually on the 1st Monday of the month on Zoom (September 7, October 5, November 2, December 7, January 4, February 1, March 1, April 5, May 3, and June 7; Zoom information on Montclair SEPAC calendar.
  • Coffee Meetups – usually 3-4 times a month at local coffee shops. Please check the Montclair SEPAC calendar for dates/times.
  • SEPAC also hosts SEPAC Academy workshops & information sessions throughout the year to provide continuing education for parents, caregivers and community members.
